Hydration & Fluid Balance Assessment

Evaluate your hydration status

No Tests Required

This assessment evaluates your hydration status based on simple observations you can make yourself - urine color, thirst, fluid intake, and symptoms. No medical tests needed!

What to look for:

  • Pale/clear: Well hydrated
  • Light yellow: Adequately hydrated
  • Dark yellow/amber: Dehydrated - need more fluids

💡 Tip: Check your urine color throughout the day. First morning urine is typically darker and doesn't count.

Higher activity levels increase fluid needs.

General guidelines:

  • Adequate: 8-10 glasses (2-2.5 liters) of water/fluids
  • Moderate: 5-7 glasses
  • Low: Less than 5 glasses

Note: Needs increase with activity, heat, illness, or pregnancy.

Common dehydration symptoms:

  • Dry mouth or sticky saliva
  • Headache
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Fatigue
  • Decreased urine output
  • Dry skin
  • Muscle cramps

💧 Hydration Tips: Drink water regularly throughout the day, not just when thirsty. Thirst is actually a late sign of dehydration. Include water-rich foods like fruits and vegetables in your diet.
